The Story of the Sports Cuff
I come from a huge sports oriented family with my dad playing baseball, basketball and football, my nephews being groomed for MLB since they were little, including myself who played basketball and baseball, my love for sports started at a very young age.The first cuff I made was a baseball cuff, I had this huge box of used baseballs sitting in the garage, the one on top had unraveled stitching due to wear and tear, so curious, to actually see the insert of a baseball, I unraveled the rest and looked at two baseball skins, thinking, this could be a bracelet, it wrapped nicely around my wrist, so I brought it into the studio, added lining, new stitching and other elements which formed the B-Cuff and paved the way to the other cuffs in my line.
I completed my new lucky sports talisman and wore it to Yankee Opening Day and every year after that. After speaking to several woman about sports and sports game gear, many of them preferred game caps, totes and jewelry over snug fitting t-shirts and jersey's while others who did, sometimes had no time to change into a sports attire before a game if it was after work. This led to friends commissioning me to make them cuffs and their friends, family and my online clients, which grew every year after that, with 2012 being the biggest year yet.
What started as a personal accessory to wear to Yankee Opening day in 2005, led to further development and this company.
My finished Cuffs and original project have been published in: -Make it Yourself from Better Homes and Gardens Oct., 2012-Sports World 2012, Jewelry Up-cycled by Sherri Haab -Bead Unique Magazine, All American Crafts, Spring 2010 -NJ Herald, Sussex County, NJ -Pipeline Newz -The Patch-Stitchin Steampunk, not yet released 2013, along with various other online and printed publications.
My sports cuffs grace the wrists of sports fans, celebs, ladies and gents within the MLB, NFL, NBA, Team leagues, little league moms and various groups. They have been shown at shows &, galleries. Sold in various stores across the country and mentioned in arenas.
The Original, B-Original, B-Cuff and additional sports cuffs are currently made from the baseballs we have in stock vintage, used, up-cycled and new practice footballs from various teams, in addition to pro tennis balls, soccer and volley balls. Colored balls or printed balls are sometimes in stock, if not I hand dye each of them to fit the customer's specifications. Originally the hardware of the cuffs consist of clasps which depended on the stock from lobster clasp, toggle, magnetic or hook, but now are made with bendable metal insert which makes them Uni-sex cuffs.
The backings of the cuffs used to be made from durable ply felt, now I am able to use a leather flat suede backing behind each baseball. When ordering please specify what color baseball, what color stitching, pearl strand or no pearl strand, rhinestone or no rhinestone, embroidery or team logo, male or female.
All cuffs come with a certificate of authenticity via email, so you know its an original.
Mid year these cuffs will be mass-produced by my new supplier w/ a price reduction and commercialized. Until then I continue to hand gut, cut, dye, stitch and hardware each and every cuff by hand, from 5 cuffs a day to 20, I make everyone.
Please note: Since many of our clients range from high profile sports players and celebs to leagues and colleges, all names are kept private and confidential, however all cuffs are photographed and placed on our site for customer inspiration when ordering.

About Lisa:
I’m a mixed media designer with several years of experience in various degrees of art and design. My book, Altered Art Circus, Quarry Books, is dedicated to my love of recycle, everything we see and own has an endless supply of uses, my job is to navigate one’s thought process into seeing this. One man’s trash is definitely one man’s treasure, a philosophy I engage in every aspect of my life including my store front, Piddlestixs, located in a turn of the century former theater where creating vignettes and displays is done on a budget through finds at thrift stores, rummage sales, curbside, dumpster diving and recycling. I am known as queen of the re-purpose process, and laugh over Sanford and Son. I say at this point in my career I realize dumpsters are my friend.
As a NJ native, I am not your stereo typical Jersey Girl, I’m actually a country girl and thoroughly enjoy living in the mountain region of the state, however I do have the Jersey hair, I won’t lie. I prefer hand made to Gucci, vintage and worn items instead of brand new. I indulge in thrifty treasures, Ladure Macarons and cupie dolls. I’m your perfect candidate under pressure, with a down to earth and comical personality, easy to work with and a child of the early 80’s Smurfs era, who was almost named Moonbeam instead of Lisa, lol.
My specialties range in a varied spectrum, I work in every single medium and art level , I think out of the box and my visual perception causes me to see things a million ways, more than the normal person does, I’m most noted for my recycled baseball and sports cuffs, product design and books.
